Emile Berliner
1851–1929 · Inventor of the disc record; early helicopter experimenter
Emile Berliner, famed inventor of the flat disc phonograph record, pursued vertical-flight experiments and, with his son Henry, made College Park Airport the family's test site beginning in 1920 — among the first serious American helicopter experiments. A Berliner helicopter is preserved at the College Park Aviation Museum.
