Lt. Frank P. Lahm
1877–1963 · The nation's first military aviator
Frank Purdy Lahm recommended the flat College Park site and was one of the first two Army officers trained by Wilbur Wright there in October 1909, qualifying as a pilot on October 26, 1909. He went on to a long career as a general and pioneer of Air Force flight training.
